My Numerology Story
By Omi Preheim
I was about 13 when I first discovered numerology. I remember picking up a tiny book by Dell, I
think it cost 19 cents, and I probably got it at
I discovered that numbers represent more than integers. That numbers represent universal truths. And that each one of us resonates to the truth of our own numbers, our own truths.
My little book had a very simple chart in it. The chart assigned a single-digit number to each letter of the alphabet.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
a b c d e f g h i
j k l m n o p q r
s t u v w x y z
Being 13, and wanting to re-create myself as a person I wanted to become, I studied this little book assiduously. Using this chart, it was possible to give numerical values to names and addresses. I began to play with every name and combination of letters that made any sense to try to assign a numerical value. I was not only looking for bigger and better things for myself, but I also wanted to understand the numbers of my family and friends, figuring that might make my life easier. I did numbers for every day of the year, and kept track of them on my calendar. I did numbers for everybody - friends, enemies, camp-mates, teachers, un-born children...
Take my birth name for example:
16 9 1 95 5 59 50/5 vowels give soul number

5 4 4 9 7 9 8 4 50/5 consonants make up the quiescent or secret self
100/1 all the letters in your name equal your expression or personality number
Through my teenage years, I tried hard to remember what the different numbers "meant". But I kept forgetting any of the meanings that didn't relate to my numbers. But I kept my little book close at hand to help me decipher the meanings of numbers of other people.
It wasn't until many years later that I began to think of each number as a lesson to be learned, and to understand that the lesson is the heart of the number – it beats to the vibration of the number. I began to experience the energy behind each number.
It is this energy that opened up numerology as a path to consciousness for me. I began to not only feel but also see connections between numbers and other systems of understanding humanity.
We can change our name - for example many women change names when they get married. While name change does affect you, the original given name at birth still provides basic information useful to growth of consciousness. A very important number, which doesn't change, is your life lesson number based upon your birth date.

Lesson Number
Many believe we choose our parents, the location, and the date of our birth before we are born into this world. If that is true then we are choosing all of the energies around us when we come back into third dimensional physical form.
Determining your birth path number is simple. I'll use mine as an example. I was born on
That would be
Those numbers would be added together like this: 8+1+2+1+9+5+2 = 28
That number is broken down to 2 + 8 = 10, 1+ 0 = 1.
My birth path number is 1.
More Numbers
Another number that doesn't change once it is assigned to us is our social security number: my number reduces to an 8. Good business number!
How about your address? My personal address number is 1232 or 1 + 2 + 3 + 2 = 8. If I use the complete address which includes the numbers of the letters, my number 3.
Telephone numbers are another good source of information. My business telephone number equals 8.
How about your license plate? I am thrilled that my license place also adds up to 8!
I wish you great good fun exploring the amazing world of numerology!
